Santa Monica, CA – December 12th 2007 – After working on multiple titles for about a year the Game Wizards team decided to focus in on one title. The team has now grown to over 70 artists and designers which presented new management challenges.  This would also mark the first “next gen” game for the team with assets that would need to include normal and specular maps.

“Detox” is the brain child of senior Game Art & Design students Dan Savage and Adrian Murphy.  They pitched the game with the promise that the students who work on the project would have the coolest assests in their portfolio they could imagine.  Both Dan and Adrian are Game Wizards veterans who both served together on the WWII mod “Thunderflash”.

The setting for this game is sci- fi and involves a high tech prison in space for earth’s most dangerous criminals.  The prison was split up into different section or levels and teams of around 10 worked on each independently and shred notes and design specifications.  The team had one of the largest concept teams it’s had which helped keep a consistent look.

“The experience of working on such a large team and the level of communication needed has really prepared us for the industry”, said Project Lead Dan Savage. Before the project completed bot Dan and Adrian got offers from two Activision devleopers.  Dan at Neversoft, the makers of Guitar Hero and Adrian as an Associate Producer at Luxoflux.
